The fire occurred on December 22, 2018 and caused substantial damage to the property, police say.
The man was bailed and is due to appear in Launceston Magistrates Court on May 29.
Meanwhile, Acting Detective Inspector John Parker said police were renewing calls for public assistance, to help identify a second man seen running from the fire on Westbury Road.
He is described as being about 20 years old, about 170 centimetres tall with a slim build and wearing a muscle-type singlet, with short brown or blonde hair.
Anyone with information in relation to the man or the fire, is asked to contact Tasmania police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.
