According to BOM there will be light showers across the west and far south early in the morning.
Showers are also predicted around Bass Strait in the morning before travelling to the north coast later in the day.
Launceston will be a brisk 8 degrees at dawn with scattered clouds and light winds between 15 and 25 km/h predicted.
Winds are expected to ease during the middle of the day before picking back up again during the evening.
BOM predicts that winds will strengthen during Thursday night becoming potentially damaging going into Friday with an average speed of 60 km/h.
On Friday between 20-30 mm of rain is expected to fall in the west and between 5-10 mm is predicted for the south.
Thunderstorms are also possible in both the west and the far south.
BOM said a bushwalkers alert and sheep graziers warning will likely be issued on Friday with dropping temperatures and snowline.
