The Burnie Dockers premiership player was a key figure as Collingwood disposed of Brisbane at the Gabba, in a performance that displayed that he is more than just a one-dimensional forward.
Mihocek, the mature-age rookie who get his crack at the big time after a stint in the VFL, was able to have an impact by both leading up the ground and doing a power of work there to create space for those behind, as well as being able to impact the scoreboard.
With Harris Andrews among those to spend time on him, Mihocek collected the second four goal haul of his career, the first since his debut in round 11 last year against Fremantle.
Mihocek finished with 4.2, with three of those goals coming in the third term as the Pies took charge, although it was a final total that was elevated with the AFL later confirmed that his first quarter goal should have been overturned via the score review.
But that incident didn't take away from the fact Mihocek was the most dominant forward on the ground, with 18 possessions, eight marks, two tackles, two goal assists and 12 score involvements to go with his work in front of the sticks.
He was one of a trio of Tasmanians who helped open the round, with teammate Jeremy Howe, who spent time on Eric Hipwood, well restricted down back with just nine touches, two marks, three tackles and two score involvements.
For the Lions, Lauderdale's Mitch Robinson had 18 possessions (12 uncontested) at 89 per cent disposal efficiency, five marks, five tackles and three score involvements in the midfield.
Mihocek and Howe will now be in preparation mode for Thursday's Anzac Day blockbuster against Collingwood, which will be Mihocek's first appearance in the biggest home and away game of the season.
The opposition should feature Launceston's Thomas Bellchambers, although the ruckman did have to receive some attention to his knee during Essendon's win over North Melbourne on Good Friday.
Away from that moment, Bellchambers engaged in an intriguing battle with North big-man Todd Goldstein.
The Tasmanian won this individual contest as his team took the points, winning 13 possessions at 92 per cent disposal efficiency, seven marks, two clearances, 0.1, three goal assists and 11 score involvements to go with his 23 hit-outs (13 to advantage).
Goldstein won 25 hit-outs (12 to advantage) and also had 13 touches, but failed to have as strong of an impact around the ground as Bellchambers with just one mark.
Devonport's Ben Brown was well restricted by Patrick Ambrose, kept to 2.2 from 10 touches, four marks, two tackles and four score involvements.
Hobart's Aaron Hall collected 16 possessions at 63 per cent disposal efficiency in the midfield for North, with three marks, four tackles, 0.1 and four score involvements.
On Saturday, Glenorchy's Jimmy Webster's impressive season continued as St Kilda ensured Melbourne's miserable year went on. The running defender collected 20 possessions (13 uncontested and five intercepts) at 75 per cent disposal efficiency, two tackles and three score involvements.
Ulverstone's Alex Pearce spent time on Jeremy Cameron in the Fremantle's win over Greater Western Sydney, with the Giant kicking 4.1. Pearce finished with seven touches (four intercepts) and three marks.
On Saturday night, George Town's Toby Nankervis battled well in the ruck with Sydney's Callum Sinclair, winning 21 hit-outs (seven to advantage) to 24 (eight to advantage) in Richmond's win.
Nankervis though wasn't as strong around the grounds as he has been, taking just two marks and laying just two tackles, but he still managed 16 possessions, four clearances and six score involvements.
Launceston's Jackson Thurlow finished with 15 possessions (six intercepts) at 67 per cent disposal efficiency, five marks (three intercepts), eight tackles, one goal assist and five score involvements for the Swans.
Thurlow, the 16th pick in the 2012 national draft for Geelong who missed 2016 after rupturing his ACL, will play his 50th game if selected for Saturday's derby with GWS.
On Sunday, North Hobart's Liam Jones spent time on the Western Bulldogs' Billy Gowers in the Blues' breakthrough win. Jones finished with five possessions, five marks (one intercept) and one tackle, with Gowers kicking 1.2.
Sunday's game saw another Blue with Tasmanian links perform strongly in Levi Casboult, who kicked 3.0 after being a late inclusion. The duo will get a chance to play in Tasmania on Sunday with Carlton to play Hawthorn at UTAS Stadium.
In Adelaide, Lauderdale's Hugh Greenwood had his first outing at senior level for 2019 after his pre-season was slowed by an abdominal injury.
Playing forward, Greenwood impressed with 2.1 and five score involvements from 18 possessions, two marks, three clearances and one tackle.
Launceston's Chayce Jones was withdrawn from the Adelaide team on Friday following the concussion he suffered against North Melbourne the previous week.
Launceston defender Jake Kolodjashnij had 12 possessions at 75 per cent disposal efficiency and took six marks as Geelong downed Hawthorn on Monday.
