Opening specifically for Good Friday, Rupert & Hound is a new venture for the team behind steak specialist Cataract on Paterson, who were keen to try their hand at a different protein.
The result is a complete renovation of the former Fish & Chips restaurant at Seaport, with owner Karen Burbury, chef Paige Anning and manager Bec McDonald working on the space since October.
They have fixed water damage, plumbing, reconfigured the space and transformed the interior to make it an inviting venue with something for all diners.
"I'm hoping to create somewhere that everybody feels comfortable, like what we've done for Cataract - it's everything for everyone," Mrs Burbury said.
"Even though it's gorgeous surrounds, it's still sincerely priced and people can relax."

But seafood it the major drawcard.
"It was always going to be seafood with the Cataract twist, highlighting Tasmanian and Australian seafood," Mrs Burbury said.
"The only imported fish we are using is the New Zealand baby snapper. It's all sustainable fish - we're only sourcing sustainable," she said.
Its menu is not solely seafood, with vegan, vegetarian, dairy-free and gluten-free options, as well as takeaway.
"The biggest thing we have is gluten-free fish and chips. We've been trialing gluten-free beer batters and we've nailed it."
The restaurant will open on Good Friday from 11am until late.
