Tasmanian businesses are being encouraged to engage with the University of Tasmania's Leap program, established to support employers and students transitioning to work.

Industry Engagement Coordinator Penny Stringer works across the university's Tasmanian and Sydney campuses to help businesses and students connect.
"We can support engagement in any way, shape or form," Ms Stringer said.
"I'm out there finding businesses that want to engage with the university and have opportunities for students."

This can include events, assessment centres, site visits, coaching, mentoring, internships and advertising vacancies.
One such program is I-PREP, which matches international students and businesses for internships outside semester time.
"We're looking for employers now who are interested in taking a student on work placement," Ms Stringer said.
"It's cross-disciplinary, so it's more about workplace culture and using their employability skills and understanding how a Tasmanian workplace ticks," she said.
