He will take over his new role next month, after helping Tasmania at the national under-18 championships in early July.
As talent coordinator, Notman will work with the AFL's talent identification and development areas.
He will also be involved with the National AFL Rising Star Award programme, the AFL draft camp, the under-16 and under-18 national championships and the AIS-AFL academy.
Notman yesterday said that the experience he had gained while working in Tasmania with the Mariners and the Devils was invaluable.
"This is an area I am really interested in so I am looking forward to getting my teeth right into it," Notman said.
"This is what I have been working towards for the last eight years."
With Tasmania's successful history of getting young footballers drafted to the AFL, Notman said he would keep a close eye on the State in the coming years.
"I have been involved with a lot of the boys that have gone through so I will show a special interest," he said.
"I have made a lot of friends here so I will be sad to go."
Northern Bombers footballer and recent sports management graduate Ryan Johnson will replace Notman in the short term.
The position will be advertised at the end of the season.
