Nationals senator Steve Martin and Lyons National candidate Deanna Hutchinson made the announcements on Tuesday.
The Glamorgan Spring Bay Council will receive more than $6 million for six different projects:
- Boardwalk around Coles Bay - $1m
- Bicheno Gulch and Esplanade redevelopment - $1.5m
- Bicheno Triangle - $600,000
- Orford Rivulet Bridge replacement - $1m
- Swansea pedestrian safety improvements - $1m
- Dolphin Sands shared pathway - $1m
Glamorgan Spring Bay mayor Debbie Wisby said the funding would revitalise the region and make a world of difference to residents and visitors. She said it would have taken a decade or more to fund the projects without the Nationals' help.
For the Break O'Day Council, a $2.1 million boost has been gifted. The money will fund the Georges Bay Foreshore multi-user track project.
A complete off-road connection from St Helens Point Road to St Helens' township, a series of paths and cycleways around Georges Bay foreshore will be constructed. More than 750 metres of boardwalk, a new bridge and retaining walls will be constructed.
Break O'Day mayor Mick Tucker said the council had been working hard on getting funding for the projects for a number of years and was proud to see it come to fruition.
The funds are budgeted in the 2019-20 budget.
