The Tasmanian Turf Club's Good Friday Family Fun Day is free for families to attend and will feature plenty of activities, including a screening of the film Peter Rabbit.
Elsa from the film Frozen will also make an appearance, with other activities including a bouncy castle, pony rides, face painting and an Easter egg hunt.
Launceston will be only the second club in Australia to host thoroughbred races on Good Friday, joining Ascot in Western Australia.
Tasmanian Turf Club chief executive Peter Scott said the club hoped it would become an annual event.
"We've been really fortunate that Harvey Norman have come on board as sponsors, to allow us to hold an event like this for the community," he said.
"We want it to be a great day out for the whole family, with plenty of fun for the kids."
Food, including kid-friendly options, will be available from the club's cafe on the day.
A three-course seafood buffet will also be available - bookings essential - with 'Tassie Tenor' Matthew Garwood performing for diners.
For bookings email admin@turfclubtas.com or call 6326 1070.
Gates will open at 12.30pm, with the movie commencing at 1pm and racing from 2.50pm.
