Cityprom executive director Steve Henty has welcomed a proposed review by the City of Launceston council.
Councillor Rob Soward will put forward the motion at Thursday's meeting.
It asks the general manager to engage with stakeholders, including Cityprom, to review the body and assess whether the needs of the Central Business District are being effectively addressed.
A suitably qualified independent consultant would complete the review, and it would happen within the next six months.
"Every organisation, particularly any that are using member's contributions to improve a city, should be welcoming of independent reviews," Mr Henty said.
The nature and the landscape of the CBD is rapidly changing, he said.
"We want to be on the front edge of the curve when it comes to being able to support our members and encourage anyone into the CBD," Mr Henty said.
"Any support or independent advice that we can help to do so, to frame our strategic direction, that has changed quite significantly in the last year, is welcomed. We want to be maximising the value for our members"
Cityprom has 2.3 full-time equivalent staff, which Mr Henty said is a small team that punches above its weight. There are also eight board members.
