Both joining the club more than a decade ago through mates, the two have stuck around during tough times due to the quality of the people at the club.
"It's a great honour to become a life member," Howe said.
"I've now played 200 games and it's become a family that I'm proud to be a part of."
A four-time premiership player and multiple best and fairest winner for Legana, Howe has achieved almost everything at the Durhams, but a hundred remains an elusive target for the all-rounder.
While Demeyer has attained the individual success of a hundred and several five-wicket hauls, a premiership is something that continues to slip through his fingers.
"Hopefully being relegated to A grade this year will be a blessing in disguise and we can tick that one off between Sam and I," Demeyer said.
Both unaware that they were receiving the honour, Demeyer said the nomination came as a shock due to his involvement with Howe's and the club had only given life membership to two people in the same year once before.
