The championships will be a display of talent of both the new and experienced musicians.
Trombonist George Dearing, 77, has been a member of the band since 1950.
In other news:
Dearing didn't originally play the trombone when he first joined the band 69 years ago but has since grown to love the instrument.
He said he believes the band is well prepared for the national championships.
"I don't think we have any ambitions about winning but if we can do well and represent Launceston and indeed Tasmania then I think we've done our job," he said.
Trombonist Nick Lord, 15, on the other hand has only been a member of the band for two years.
He said he loved working as a section and enjoyed making music.
"I want to make a career out of this," he said.
