It is the first confirmed B strain case of the disease in Tasmania this year, and the second case of meningococcal.
A Huon Valley man contracted the W strain in March.
Director of Public Health Dr Mark Veitch said the Public Health Services had completed the public health response to the B strain case.
"This included identifying and managing the patient's close household-like contacts," he said.
State-funded meningococcal ACWY vaccine remains available for those aged between six weeks and 20 years of age, from GPs.
Meningococcal ACWY vaccine is also funded under the National Immunisation Program for infants turning 12 months old.
From April, the vaccine will be offered to those in Year 10 who have not previously been immunised, through the school-based immunisation program.
Meningococcal B vaccine is available on private prescription.
