Happy Hampers Community Co-Op was started by Ignite Revival Australia Inc, co-director Andrew Hicks said he was inspired by similar projects on the mainland.
"They have a lot of them [co-op hamper businesses] on the mainland, in Tasmania there's hardly any," Mr Hicks said.
"Anyone can come and get a hamper, they don't have to be struggling.
"If they are really struggling then they can make an appointment, see me, and we can see what we can do about helping them food-wise."

The co-op will offer a number of hamper packages varying in size as well as the option to deliver hampers for a small fee.
Mr Hicks said numerous community groups and businesses have lent their support to the venture.
"Organisations do hampers on a smaller scale to what we are going to be doing here, but we just see a real need for it," Mr Hicks said.
