No life-threatening injuries have been reported and it is unclear how many vehicles are involved.
Tasmania Police have reported it as a "multiple car crash" on the highway at Mornington, 100 metres south of the Mornington Overpass if you were travelling towards Hobart.
Commuters and other drivers can expect traffic delays at the scene until it's cleared.
The crash was reported about 8.45am.
Tasmania Police advised about 9.55am that the highway had been cleared and traffic was flowing.
