Youth development manager and club committee member Nathan Fellows said the program covers the club's under-13,14,15,16 and 18 age groups.
"It is headed up by youth academy director and former Leeds United apprentice Peter Savill, who has the qualifications, credentials, experience and knowledge of what it takes to be successful at the highest level," Fellows said.
Savill's experience ranges from club and league best and fairest medals as a player to winning the NPL and Lakoseljac Cup as a coach.
Fellows said the initiative provides the opportunity for the Prospect-based club's youth to be coached by one of Tasmania's elite coaches and developed in a way that creates a seamless integration to senior football and provide quality depth to future NPL squads.
"Peter is fully supported by the Launceston City football department and Devils juniors club, which together are creating a pathway for those players wishing to develop and improve their game and play at a higher level," Fellows said.
"His influence on our under-18 Northern Championship side is already evident from their first three games, which have resulted in convincing wins (5-1, 5-0 and 5-0).
"As an NPL club we are very focused on providing clear and rewarding youth pathways, and we are very excited of the benefits of this initiative for opportunities it creates for our youth."
City have placed faith in their home-grown youngsters this season which is evident in the NPL team which includes striker Noah Mies, midfielder Jarrod Linger, keeper Lachie Clark, Alex Turner, Joe Dorazio, Charlie Dyer and Mackenzie Hancox who all played against Hobart Zebras on Saturday.
While the program is aimed at developing the motivated players in the latter stages of their junior years, City's Devils junior club still has plenty of options to accommodate players that want to improve, starting with their Little Devils and Junior Devils training programs.
These provide additional and structured training for boys and girls from under-six through to under-12, establishing development opportunities right through to NPL.
The club encouraged anyone keen to get involved to support the teams at Prospect on Saturday.
Games start at 10.30am with the under-18s, Championship 1 and Northern Championship teams taking on Devonport before the NPL team hosts Olympia at 4.30pm.
