The crash occurred at 4.40pm on Sunday, March 31, Tasmania Police said.
The two men, aged 61 and 64, were on board the plane and suffered non-life threatening injuries when it crashed.
The plane came down in bushland off Soldiers Settlement Road, George Town.
Investigations are continuing in relation to the cause of the crash and Australian Transport Safety Bureau have been notified, police said.
It is believed that changing wind conditions affected the light planes' ability to climb during take-off from the George Town Airport causing it to crash into trees south of the airport, police said.
