Taking part in the inaugural Expert Aus-Nepal Cup, a competition initiated by the Adelaide Nepalese Cricket Association, Chhetri came home labelled player of the series and best batsman as Tasmanian team, Gurkha Legends, finished runners-up.
In the group stages and semi-final, Chhetri scored 132 in three games, including 60 not out against Queensland's side and a pivotal 52 not out and two wickets against host side Adelaide to propel the Gurkha Legends into the final.
Selected in a 14-man squad to be known as the Aus-Nepal representative team, the squad featured two Nepalese national players, an opportunity which daunted Chhetri but inspired him at the same time, as the dream of playing international cricket lives on.
"I've performed well here and have received an offer to play for big Nepalese clubs this year but can't go at the moment," Chhetri said.
After moving from Riverside to Mowbray in the 2017-18 season, the all-rounder scored 199 runs at an average of 25 across both first and second grade this year while also picking up a handy 19 wickets at 17.5.
