The soon-to-be-launched hotel in York Street, Launceston, promises "a better night's sleep" for the guest, but also for those who benefit as a result of their stay.

This project, with a name to be revealed next week, is the result of about 18 months' work between S. Group, York House developer and two additional partners, S. Group director Tara Howell said.

"Sam [Haberle] had an idea initially about a hotel that would give back," Ms Howell said.

"We both wanted to build a business that will change the business industry - and change the world."

The firm's architectural arm was working with the developer on the York Street development and liked the business case he had put forward.

They saw some affinity with this development and pitched the hotel accommodation idea.

"We spoke to the developer and he loved it and wanted to do it. We did the plans with this hotel in mind," she said.

The project's modern apartment-style rooms will be built on an extra level above the Finance Brokers of Tasmania space in the York House building.

Guests can choose how they support change by selecting one of eight charitable projects, such as an Indian orphanage, Beyond Blue or Tasmanian Land Conservancy.

Ms Howell said the York Street hotel would complement Launceston venues like Stillwater's SEVEN suites as "another beautiful offering".

The rooms include loft bedrooms looking out over Launceston, with apartments housing one bedroom, up to three bedrooms.

Rooms start at $150 per night.

Bookings taken from early April and opening July 1.
