This is a fact that both Westbury's Conrad Chugg and Launceston's Lawrence Dodson are aware of heading into the second grade final this weekend at NTCA 2.
"Launceston have been the only team to knock us off this season and they've done it twice. So Saturday will be the chance to prove we've been the better team." Westbury captain Chugg said.
The Shamrocks powered into the final with a dominant first wicket win over Riverside including a half century from 16-year-old Hamish Sytsma.
"Hamish being only 16 years old and going out in a semi final and scoring a 50 shows a bit of maturity on his behalf." Chugg said.
"Having a few of the older fellas with more experience gives the younger boys a bit of confidence."
While Westbury have been the dominant force all season, Launceston have slowly built their season from the ground up after a slow start to the season.
"At the start of the season, we lost four games out of the first five and since then we've only lost one game. We've been really good in two day cricket after Christmas with the bowlers doing their job." Launceston captain Dodson said.
An equally dominant performance from the Lions made their finals dream a reality as they defeated Mowbray by seven wickets.
Matthew Woods and Patrick Morehouse achieved five-wicket hauls in the first and second innings respectively as Launceston powered their way through.
Dodson credits the new found experience of previously young Launceston side as the key to making the final.
"Having Maxy [Damien Jillett] back this year has helped immensely with the younger guys. He's played a lot of A Grade cricket for us and other teams in the past and having him back to add that experience to a young side has been beyond measurable."
Both sides have made key changes to their successful semi final sides with Jared Mason bringing bowling depth in for Westbury and Will Bennett and Jack Groves make their way in for Launceston.
