The 27-year-old former Burnie Docker was a late addition to the Tigers' list after being picked up as a pre-season supplemental selection in December after being delisted by St Kilda.
The pressure-forward played 121 games for the Saints and Gold Coast.
Weller will be one of five Tasmanians in action on Thursday, in what will be the 250th game for Clarence's Jack Riewoldt at Richmond, and could have North Hobart's Liam Jones as an opponent.
George Town ruckman Toby Nankervis will also be in the yellow and black, and will cross paths with Lauderdale big-man Andrew Phillips.
Meanwhile, the return of Devonport's four-time premiership Hawk Grant Birchall has hit a roadblock.
The 31-year-old has been sidelined by a what the club describes as a "minor injury setback" after hurting his calf at training on Friday, but his absence has been listed as indefinite.
Birchall is on the comeback trail having not played since round 15, 2017, due to knee problems.
"Grant's been in the skills program for about four weeks now, (but) he has a minor calf issue at the moment," Hawks physical performance manager Luke Boyd said on the club's website.
"Unfortunately when you've been out of the game for a long period of time, sometimes these things pop up, so we'll manage him over the next couple of weeks."
Birchall had stepped up his preparation by resuming full skills training and being involved in match simulation earlier this month.
That had come after he had said on his return to his home city during the club's community camp he had hopes of returning somewhere between rounds four and eight, an ETA that is likely to have been altered.
