I don't live in the past, but I will inform the present generation that three NTFL sides trained four days a week back in the late 50s at York Park - Monday to Thursday, and Saturday was game day. North Launceston reeking in history is not allowed to train on the ground they called home, shame is heaped on the City of Launceston Council.
The peoples ground is now under the influence of the AFL and sponsors, but the LCC is prepared to spend millions of ratepayers money a whopping $3.55 million on upgrades.

Mowbray Connection
PLEASE do not install traffic lights.
Traffic flow in a southerly direction is slow enough as it is.

Glover Prize
SUNDAY evening, how good to see that a landscape painting won the people's choice this year. I went, as usual, in the week to view the paintings with my partner, what a waste of $20. Over the years there have been less and less landscape paintings.
This year beat all others, a painting of the sea is a seascape, not a landscape and my dog can do better than a lot of them.
I'm sure I heard John Glover turning in his grave at Doddington. I wish I could sit on the selection committee, or get people that know what the word landscape means.
John Elcomb, East Launceston.
Australia Post
ON February 25 I sent a small package (registered) to Calgary, Canada.
On checking to see that it had arrived I was told it left Australia on March 6.
A full nine days after it was posted. I think that is a disgrace. The reason given for not going earlier was "lack of available space".
To me that is ridiculous.
Why wouldn't it go in the next overseas mail dispatch? What has happened to service from our once good Australia Post?
Raymond Smith, Newstead.
Opera House performance
VILLAGE Cinemas are offering a wonderful series of filmed live ballet and opera performances from the Royal Opera House, London.
This is an opportunity to see some of the world's greatest artists, performing classic operas like La Traviata and Faust, and ballets like Nutcracker and Romeo and Juliet.
We have been to three so far and the audience has never exceeded twelve people.
Come on Launceston, in such a theatre-loving town we can do better than that.
Support it or lose it.
Tony and Sue Walker, Dilston.
Strictly Ballroom
WHAT an amazing presentation of Strictly Ballroom last night. There wasn't just love, but joy, laughter and happiness in the air.
The talent was absolutely incredible and the total show magnificent. Well done everyone associated with Strictly Ballroom.
I urge everyone to go and have a great night out and enjoy yourselves for a night and forget all the grief and horror which has been unleashed on the last day for a moment.
