Avoca Primary School students will begin a shift to Campbell Town this year, with declining enrollment numbers leading the school to close its doors from 2020.
A transition plan developed between parents, staff and the Department of Education will be established to support the needs of students throughout 2019.
Education and Training Minister Jeremy Rockliff said Monday afternoon the Avoca School Association had written to request the closure after a meeting on March 1.
Mr Rockliff said that he had met with parents and Avoca community leaders and acknowledged it was a "very difficult and challenging time" for the school community.
