It was a case of full-circle for the Victorian artist, whose mother first taught her to paint when she was four years old.
"I've got kids now, and I do wonder how she had the courage to hand over her oil paints - her precious oil paints - to me at such a young age," she laughed.
She would recommend a trip to Bathurst Harbour to anyone.
"It's like a window into another time, it's quite moving," she said.
"It almost feel primeval, this innate connection [with the wildnerness]."
Riddle was also the 2017 Glover People's Choice Award winner.
The Children's Choice award went to Jason Cordero's Day of the Mountain.
