Lucas overtook under 23 rider and Australian road race champion Sarah Gigante in the last 200 metres to comfortable cross the line in front of a pack of nine riders.

Lucas said it was a great feeling to claim back-to-back Oceania titles after being made to work hard throughout the race.

"During the race I had a couple of times where I tried to get away, but I was chased back down and no one was giving any space," Lucas said.

"I backed myself in that sprint because I looked after my legs from the large hill.

"I was playing it pretty cool, I knew what I had to do to win and i backed myself and it is about being willing to lose at times."

The remainder of the elite women's podium was filled by Australia's Justine Barrow in second place and New Zealand's Kirsty McCallum in third.

In the under 23 race, Gigante's second place overall finish was enough to take out the gold medal from Australia's Jemma Eastwood and New Zealand's Georgia Christie.

Gigante said she just didn't have enough energy at the end of the race to hold off Lucas, but she was pleased with her effort.

"I wasn't planning on going early (in the sprint), but going into the corner I wanted to be in front and I got a little jump and I thought I may as well go," Gigante said.

"I wasn't really thinking much, I was just pedaling and and trying to get up there, but but you really notice that drag when you are out there.

"I almost held on, it was really cool and well done to Sharlotte on the win."

Nicole Frain was the first Tasmanian across the finish line in seventh overall and was fifth in the elite race.

Anya Louw battled away in the second group after dropping off the back in the third lap and finished 15^th overall and sixth in the under 23 race, while Kathryn Woolston was 17^th overall.

The other road race held on Saturday was the under 19 junior men's race, with New Zealand's Finn Fisher-Black claiming a championship double with the victory after also winning the time trial on Friday.

Fisher-Black cruised to the win by 24 seconds, with Australia's Sebastian Barrett securing the silver medal and New Zealand's Josh lane rounded out the podium.

Daniel Di Domenico was the only Tasmanian to finish in the race, crossing the line in 21^st place.

Riley Cowling and Jack Schouten did not finish the race after dropping off the back of the main pack.

Racing resumes on Sunday with the under 19 women's race at 9.30am, followed by the elite and under 23 men's race from 1pm.
