On this weekend, the festival is bringing a diverse range of really intriguing shows to Northern Tasmania, put together under the eye of artistic director Lindy Hume. 

Personally, we're fascinated by the idea of Super Night Shot. This is a film shot in the streets of a city (this time, of Launceston), an hour before the screening, that the program promises will "elevate the banality of everyday life into epic glamour and glitz". The New York Times has praised its "goofy Cinderella charm", and the New Yorker dubbed it "incredibly well-directed … filled with hope, or possibility, and a collectively innocent imagination". It's been to six continents, and now it's our turn. Sign us up. 

As for Lindy Hume, she can't wait to bring you the festival's children's program.

Ten Days on the Island is spread throughout the North-West, North-East, and South of Tasmania on three consecutive weekends, but the children's program is all in the North - and we've got some family passes to giveaway.

One family pass will take you to the Children's Party - a political arena by children, for children - and the other is for retro-futuristic Russian folktale Baba Yaga. Enter here before Friday 9am.
