Co-directed and produced by Grace Williams, Citizen shares the stories of different Tasmanians from diverse backgrounds, who have all faced varying human rights issues.
The film, which premiered in Hobart last year, earned Williams the Tasmania Human Rights Young Achiever award for her dedication to addressing inequalities.
Currently studying law at the University of Tasmania, she said the documentary was aimed at giving people a voice and a platform to share their story.
"It is going to be a really special event," she said.
"I think we have saved the best screening yet, just for Launceston.
"For the first time we will also have people featured in the film, taking part in a panel discussion after the screening.
"It will be an opportunity for them to share their experiences and engage with people one-on-one, face to face.
"I think it will be really insightful for all involved."
Thursday's screening will take place at Star Theatre, starting from 6pm, followed by the panel discussion.
Williams will also be signing copies of her book Together We Stand.
