Launceston United's trip down south proved to be a horror show as they were thrashed 10-2 by Metro FC at North Chigwell.
In an all-North-West affair, Burnie progressed after a hat-trick to Stuart Batt gave them a comfortable 4-1 win over close rivals Burnie United.
Scores were level at 1-1 after 30 minutes, but a red card to a United player turned the game on its head and the hosts ran riot.
In the three other qualifying games played at KGV Football Park, Nelson defeated South East United 7-0, University accounted for New Town Eagles 3-1 and Ulverstone were defeated 4-1 by Beachside.
There was also one NPL Tasmania match played on Monday, with title hopefuls South Hobart and Hobart Zebras playing out a 1-1 draw at Darcy Street.
Zebras opened the scoring after 10 minutes thanks to Jayden Hey.
But just as they appeared set for victory, Gilly Desouza equalised for South Hobart in the 85th minute.
Launceston City gets its season underway at home on Wednesday night when it hosts Devonport.
