Despite never having played croquet before, TFGA president Wayne Johnston showed the leadership he was elected for by guiding Meander Valley to a tense win over Christina Holdmdahl’s West Tamar.
The final went down to the last hoop at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre before the Valley secured a 7-6 win.
Mayors or their representatives from Launceston, George Town, Break O'Day and Dorset also competed in the challenge.
In other croquet news, entries are now open for the annual Easter Gala Tournament via the Croquet Tasmania website.
This year’s event will run from April 23 to 26 at the Northern Tasmanian Croquet Centre, with East Launceston pair Stewart Von See and Paul Richards the defending handicap doubles champions.
