South Launceston pair Justin Nilon and Connor Sheppard will have the honour of representing their country in October after being picked in a 14-man Australian squad following starring performances at the intellectual disability national championships in January.
The pair will fly to Brisbane for a week-long training camp on Saturday ahead of the Global Games tri-series against England and South Africa.
Nilon has represented Australia on multiple occasions, but was as thrilled as ever by the prospect of taking his leg breaks on tour.
"[The tours] have been amazing - not just to play cricket for your country but the friendships you make on the field last a lifetime," the 23-year-old said.
"We played the final in England [in 2017] and we got so close to winning that, and the squad we’ve got this year is very tight-knit so we’re hoping to go one step further."
Eighteen-year-old Sheppard was picked for the first time in the wake of taking a hat-trick at nationals.
"My coach Devo [Liam Devlin] said you always have to keep the ball full and straight and that's what happened," the left-arm quick said.
"The first wicket was bowled, the second was caught - Justin caught it - and the third was lbw and that’s what got the hat-trick.
"Everyone just went all over me and patted me on the forehead and hugged me a lot."
