For Launceston to host these awards is nothing short of a combination of hard work, determination and passion for our region.
This isn't your average event. The awards will be the event of all events - because it will be showcasing Tasmania.
In the past, the awards have moved from convention centres to stadiums and all but two of these occasions have been in a capital city.
On Friday, every attendee will be blown away by the innovation and creativity of the individuals we have in Northern Tasmania.
Some people have made negative comments about the location of the awards.
The physical location.
Frustration was aired that the pool at the Gorge was closed while the marquee was created over the popular swimming spot.
What's missing in these comments is the bigger picture - the fact Launceston is going to be on the national stage.
It's an opportunity for all of Northern Tasmania to be in the spotlight through the produce consumed at the event and sites visited by the attendees.
The greatest tourism minds will all be in that marquee.
The networking opportunities are endless for the Tasmanians also attending the evening.
Many have touted the awards as putting Launceston on the map.
But if we weren't already on the map, why has there been a steady and strong increase in demand for adding Launceston to the travel itinerary?
Launceston is already on the map.
These awards simply and exceptionally showcase all the reasons why we deserve to be on the map.
But more importantly, why we will continue to grow our tourism experience here in Northern Tasmania.
