The World Roof Bolting and Coal Shovelling Championships were big events of the day.
The roof bolting crown was taken by region natives Jack Viney and Lee Spilsbury.
Coal shovelling singles winner was reigning champion of several years Malcolm Woods.
Mr Woods and Russell Lane were victors in the doubles coal shovelling.
Spokesperson Elizabeth Death said while attendance was lower than expectations, possibly due to the weather, it was a good day.
"A highlight was the Hot Saw Competition," Ms Death said.
"Events were watched by an enthusiastic crowd, while children were entertained entertained by mini jeeps, laser tagging, jumping castle and archery."
Peter Booth won the 25km cycling scratch event, which was ran between Mathinna and the festival.
Yard dog competitions were also held in three divisions.
The open yard dog winner was Matthew Johnson with his dog Ethel.
The novice division winner was Darrel Scott with Jess, and the improver division winner was Tim Hall and Rowdy.
Ms Death said the festival is important in recognising the area's mining culture.
"The festival is important to Fingal and surrounding area as it shows off skills used in the mining industry," she said.
"It is the only festival of its type in Tasmania and maybe the only one in Australia."
She also said the event is big for the area's economy.
"It helps with the local economy with the visitors taking advantage of the free camping and staying for the whole weekend," Ms Death said.
"[They're] Enjoying the historic town, extraordinary vista and tranquility of the country life.
The day was capped off with a popular cabaret show starring Dave Hawkins.
Ms Death said next year's festival will be the 40th, with plans already underway to make it a special day.
