There were no shortage of interesting vehicles at the day, with a number cars, motorbikes and trains on display as well.
Event coordinator and member of George Town Rotary Craig Stringer said that the weather and day were great.
"It's been a very successful day," he said.
"We've had a crowd of over 1500 people pass through here."
Some vehicles didn't make it through the day in one piece however, with one unlucky car used by the SES and Tasmanian Fire Service for a live demonstration of their newest buzz saws and extinguishers.
"The simulated rescue they've completed was a brilliant show piece," Mr Stringer said.
"This morning they were demonstrating cold-cut saws and showing how they access roof space."
One plane of note was Stephen Ross' 1957 CAC Winjeel.
The plane was designed and built entirely in Australia and was one of only 62 ever made.
"It was designed absolutely just to train pilots," Mr Ross said.
Mr Ross said the plane's three seats and spacious design make it great for camping.
"I've been away camping in it up to Lake Mungo and places like Echuca," he said.
"It's got a good range on it, you can plan a 3 hour flight comfortably with reserves which is about enough sitting in that airplane to get up and get a cup of tea and stretch your legs.
"It's a great old machine, big engine on it so it makes a fantastic noise and then vibrates, shakes and talks to you."
Mr Stringer said the variety of things to see and do at Wings and Things was a key attraction of crowds.
"It's the different exhibits we have, certainly the aircraft are a big draw card," he said.
"It's our major fundraiser for the George Town Rotary club and this year the funds raised will go to the Bass and Flinders centre in George Town."
Mr Ross said the day was great to share his love and knowledge for planes with others.
"It's such a buzz, it's a great aircraft to fly," he said.
"It's got a lot of charisma and a lot of people are interested to come up and talk to about the plane."
