Latrobe proved that they are a little above the average team with a resounding 45-shot, three-rink win over ladder leader South Burnie, moving them to within five points of South who until recently seemed invincible.

Admittedly South was a couple of players down, but it is doubtful that they would have made the difference.
Greg Douce with good support from Corey Mundy, Graeme Moore and Joe Skirving showed some of the form from old with a classic 38-12-shot defeat of young gun Cameron Griffiths.
Brother Tim with Mathew Mitchell, Graham Hay and Kelly Mundy playing well also recorded a good 16-shot win over Luke Richardson and to top it off for the Demons, Anthony Johns proved too good for Ricky Richardson, winning 29-20.
South Burnie’s only rink winner was Cameron Windram who defeated Garry Courtney 22-16.
Burnie also moved to within one game of top spot, demolishing the Wynyard Cats by 62 shots.
The Jeremy Turner, Joe Simpson, Grant Wyllie Trevor Carpenter rink could do no wrong as their 40-16-shot win would indicate. Not to be out done David Gamble, Jason Morrisby John Davis and Patrick Saltmarsh defeated Tony Haneveer 38-16 and Patrick Smith defeated Grant Crowe 39-22.
It was left to John Neal to score a rink win for the Cats by defeating Mark Nitz albeit by just the one shot, 20-19.
The Tigers' win has certainly tightened up the top of the ladder with three teams, South Burnie, Latrobe and Burnie now all within a game of each other.
Devonport Eagles has moved ahead of Penguin on the ladder after defeating them by 22 shots sharing the rinks.
The win was set up by the brilliant display of lawn bowls by the Michael Higginson, Tony Hamilton, Ken Fogg, Trent Lowrie combination who took the Wayne Manson, Bronwyn King, Harvey Clarke, Annette Yaxley rink to the cleaners defeating them 36-11.
The other successful rink winner for the Eagles was Tristan Bakes, Phillip Rockliffe, David Pinner and Mason Barnes who finished seven to the good of Wayne Willcox.
Winners for the Two Blues were the Shane Stanfield, Gaylene Elsworthy, Dale Good, David Osborne rink who snuck in by one over Dean Martin 24-23 and Peter French got the better of Greg Williamson defeating him by nine shots.
The Two Blues loss sees them seventh on the ladder, a position that would not please them.
Port Sorell finally displayed the form they were capable of defeating Ulverstone by six shots sharing the rinks in the process.
Aaron Jago had youngster Codi Marshall, Ebony White and dad Robert Jago playing telling bowls in their defeat of Sam McLean 35-18.
Luke Marshall defeated Rocket Horton 31-24 giving the Sharks their second rink wins.
The Robins' Colin Willcox tried hard to keep the Robins in the game with a 30-18-shot margin over Rod Everett and Eden Moore got the better of Paul Marshall 21-15.
In Division 1 Burnie has moved ahead of cross-town rival South Burnie albeit by percentage only after defeating Turners Beach on three rinks by 26 shots.
Former ladder leader South Burnie was given a bowls lesson by Latrobe who defeated them on all rinks by 54 shots.
The win by Latrobe sees them move into third position ahead of Turners Beach, but once again it is only percentage that is the difference. Penguin and Port Sorell both kept their hopes of a top-four finish alive by defeating the Devonport Eagles and Ulverstone respectively.
Only seven points separate the top three sides East Devonport, Sheffield and Smithton in Division 2.
East moved to the top by defeating Smithton and Sheffield was all over South Burnie.
Wynyard forced Latrobe into the wooden spoon position by defeating them by five shots and Railton claimed fourth position on the ladder by defeating Penguin by 17 shots.
