North Launceston and Lauderdale will be adding their teams to the league, making for a six-team competition for the first time.

This will be the first season without the Burnie Dockers, who withdrew after a difficult 2018 season.

ANZAC Day will be when the action kicks off for the season, with reigning premiers Glenorchy hosting the Tigers at KGV Oval.

Week two will see a ripper in a triple-header gala at UTAS Stadium where all six teams will play.

The day will start with newcomers North Launceston and Lauderdale butting heads, followed by the Tigers playing Clarence and finally with Launceston playing Glenorchy.

TSLW state manager Carl Saunder said the first two rounds of the season would provide Tasmanian footy fans with plenty to look forward to.

"We have had two highly entertaining seasons of the TSLW so far, and I have no doubt fans can look forward to what 2019 has to offer," he said.

"The round two gala day at UTAS Stadium will be a great event and one that will truly signal the arrival of the new season and the introductions of Lauderdale and North Launceston.

"The inclusion of these two clubs sees the TSLW move closer to mirroring the men's competition."

The finals fixtures will also be altered to contain a four-week top-four series rather than three weeks.

AFL Tasmania female talent manager Leigh Elder noted the importance of the TSLW for developing a pathway for talented female players in the state.

"Last year we saw Nicole Bresnehan, Chloe Haines and Libby Haines selected in the AFLW draft by the North Melbourne Tasmanian Kangaroos after impressive 2018 TSLW seasons," she said.

"In conjunction with the Tasmanian Devils pathway and the Next Generation Academy, the TSLW will again play a pivotal role in developing our emerging starts as they continue to showcase their skills and move closer to being the best players they can be."
