The Drawing Without Words exhibition is a collaboration between Launceston College and the University of Tasmania as part of the Academy Gallery Community Engagement Program.
The exhibition details works by seven Tasmanian artists demonstrating the importance of drawing as a facilitator for the creative process.
A key point of the gallery is to deviate from a highly digitised and science dominated art scene back to the crux of the field.
Co-curator of the exhibition Dr Malcom Bywaters said it was crucial for younger artistic minds to learn the importance of drawing skills.
"The visionary, the artist as a seer, there's a lovely feeling of romance about the drawings," Bywaters said.
"It still resonates with a younger generation which is why we felt it would be appropriate here.
"It kicks off the year and gets the creative juices flowing, they're going to get a whole variable of makers as drawers here."
Head of visual and performing arts at Launceston College Scott Cunningham said it was important for all aspects of the artistic landscape to appreciate core art.
"It transcends all the arts too so it's not just about visual art, it's dance, movement, performing arts," he said.
"At the essence drawing is at the heart of it all."
The exhibition will host a preview night Thursday, February 21 from 5.30pm at Launceston College's 'The Gallows' exhibition space.
The Exhibition will be open from February 22 until March 29.
