Laughs of Launnie Launceston International Comedy Festival director Chris Franklin said things were going quite well in the lead-up, however it was a little nerve-wracking putting on the inaugural event.
“I’m a comedian, so I’m used to being on the other side of it,” he said.
“I’ve performed at a lot festivals, I do the whole month of the Melbourne Comedy Festival.
“But, I’ve never been on the organising side.
“There’s a lot more involved than just setting up a show. There’s all the little things, like catering for opening night.
“At the moment, I’m trying to coordinate flights for about 30 acts, in and out of Launceston. That side of it has surprised me a bit.”
He said to be involved in the festival was very exciting.
“We’ve created this thing, it’s happening now and people are coming,” he said.
“We just want the people of Launceston to come along and make it successful.”
On Monday, the festival launched a physical box office where those interested can grab their tickets, information on the festival and the events, and some merchandise.
Franklin will also be there to answer questions.
Every day leading up to the festival, the box office will be open between 10am and 2pm at 68 St John Street.
Australian and international comedians such as Stephen K Amos, Fiona O’Loughlin, Randy Feltface, Cal Wilson, Heath Franklin, Akmal Saleh, and Tahir Bilgic are just a few of acts set to hit the city in March.
Alongside more than 30 solo shows will be three galas, five special events, roadshows, pub crawls, a bus tour, and more.
