After five straight losses on the Sunshine Coast, the Tasmanians faced Northern Territory in a battle for ninth and tenth positions.
Tasmania won the toss and batted first, but captain Cooper Anthes may have started to regret the decision after his side having looked on track for a modest total.
Wickers at regular intervals had pushed them on the back foot to 6-80.
However the lower order had other ideas when Dixon shared in a 70-run stand for the seventh wicket before adding a further 149 runs with Kingborough's Jack Ross (78) for the eighth wicket.
The Wynyard all-rounder was eventually all out for 90 off 85 balls as Tasmania finished with a strong 9-299.
Cowan's time to shine also came with the ball, as he picked up two of the first three wickets to help reduce Northern Territory to 3-26.
Dixon chimed in with a wicket himself and a run out, while Cowan also claimed the final dismissal to finish with 3-16 and bowl Northern Territory out for just 66 inside the 21st over.
In Canberra, the Futures League match between ACT/NSW Country and Tasmania sensationally ended in a tie after the last Tigers batsman was run out in the final over of the day as they tried to chase down 345.
