Site staff would resume at the Cattle Hill Wind Farm site this week, Goldwind Australia’s  project manager, Ronan Creedon, said.

He said the Tasmania Fire Service had approved access for construction work to restart.

Goldwind Australia managing director John Titchen said: “Tasmania Fire Service and many other parties together faced extremely hot and difficult conditions to ensure the safety of Tasmanians and to protect property and natural heritage.”

“We are very grateful for their incredible work during this challenging time.”

Mr Creedon said: “Work on site will focus on continuing the construction of the access roads between areas where wind turbines will be installed.”

“Wind turbine foundations will continue to be excavated and foundations will continue to be poured.

“Gradco will be working to complete road works in the vicinity of the project area.

“The delivery of turbine components to the project site is aimed to start before the end of February.

“Installation of the turbines will be commencing in March.”

Construction started in mid-2018.

The project is expected to be fully operational late this year.

About 120 staff are expected on site this weak, and the construction workforce is expected to peak at 150.

The wind farm will need up to 10 permanent maintenance staff.

It is expected to produce enough energy to power about 63,500 homes.
