Tasmania Police have condemned the “disgusting” behaviour of 24 drivers caught with drugs and alcohol in their system, following Party in the Paddock at the weekend.

Acting Inspector Dean McMahon said while police were happy with crowd behaviour at the festival, random breath tests had detected 12 drink-drivers and 12 drug-drivers.
“It is disgusting really, because it places undue risk to the community and it should not be tolerated at all. So we are very disappointed in relation to that,” he said.
More than 8000 people attended the event at White Hills between February 7 and 9.
Police made three evictions for minor offences, with the majority of the RBTs conducted at the conclusion of the festival.
Given the results, acting Inspector McMahon said it was very lucky there were no major incidents on the road.
“That is why we pour a lot of police resources into prevention,” he said.
