Growth Developments has lodged a development application with the City of Launceston council to subdivide land that backs on to the Midland Highway into 216 lots.
About 40 per cent of the lots will be 600 to 700 square metres and 39 per cent will be between 700 and 800 square metres.
The area runs from the Midland Highway, the Kings Meadows Link onto Raglan and Victoria streets at Youngtown, with the development size being more than 56 acres.
A loop road will be constructed within the proposed subdivision, including a connection to the Kings Meadows Link.
Growth Developments director Jason Sherriff said the business had received a huge amount of interest.
“The attraction is that the lots are very level and they’re in the southern suburbs, which is quite appealing for most people and proximity to the city, there is a little bit of distance, but you’re on the highway immediately,” he said.
“Access to CBD is only five or six minutes so that is quite appealing and all of the facilities that Kings Meadows has to offer is only a few minutes down the road.”
Mr Sherriff said there was also a lengthy list of builders who were waiting to start.
The subdivision has been a work in progress for about 18 months.
The development application is open for comment until Monday, February 25.
