Northern Tasmanian fruit is on its way to Japan again, after the state’s fruit fly free status was recognised.
Agriculture Minister David Littleproud said Japan had accepted evidence that fruit flies had been eradicated in Northern Tasmania.
“Growers in Northern Tasmania can again sell fruit to Japan,” Mr Littleproud said.
“[We’re] opening as many overseas markets as we can, and keeping them open when we have issues as we’ve had here.
“The market is now open,” he said.
