The fundraiser is being organised by artist Nigel Lazenby, who has previously raised $32,000 for Appin Hall Children’s Foundation.
He chose Clifford Craig because they are a well-respected local body, tied to the Launceston General Hospital.
The organisation also has a personal resonance with Mr Lazenby. His first wife was taken by cancer, one of the research specialties of Clifford Craig.
“I’ll do anything to support the LGH, because they were wonderful, in what was a very difficult time,” he said.
“Clifford Craig don’t just do cancer of course, they do a bunch of different disease research that other bodies don’t look into. I know one thing is the immune system and how it breaks down with age – that effects everybody.”
