The Shamrocks took nine wickets in less than two sessions, rolling the home side for 100 before a downpour ended Mowbray’s second innings at 1-16 after 12 overs. 

After using five bowlers to reduce Mowbray to 2-32 at stumps on the opening day, skipper Richard Howe called on another four on day two as seven individual players took scalps.

Jono Chapman took 2-14 to go with his maiden A-grade century last weekend, while Corey Briggs collected 2-15. 

Sean Stevenson took just his eighth wicket in six seasons after being thrown the ball for just the second time this campaign, finishing with 1-0 off five balls. 

“We’ve got a versatile list really,” Chapman said.

“We’ve got quite a few all-rounders in there so that helps us on both ends and gives us a few options that we can throw the ball to if needed.”

Chapman said Briggs’ four-over spell had set the tone for the day’s play.

“He’s come up from Ulverstone and fitted in really well.

“It was quite a poppy wicket with almost tennis ball bounce, and his first spell in particular was really good – he just asked a lot of questions and challenged he batters with some nice full bowling.”

Mowbray enjoyed some resistance from Rhys Watson (26 off 70), but scored at less than two an over before being bowled out inside 55 overs.

Luke Scott played a defiant second innings knock as the Shamrocks pushed for an unlikely outright win, seeing off 44 balls for four not out. 

Just 21 overs were bowled in the second match of the round as SOUTH LAUNCESTON rounded out its eighth win of the season.

Knights skipper Tom Waller declared on his side’s overnight score of 5-158, leaving the Blues needing 73 to avoid an innings defeat. 

The visitors made it to 2-48 before the match was called off, with Josh Partridge batting through for 17 not out.

Pacemen Ben Jackson and Jackson Young took a wicket each to follow up their first innings hauls of four apiece.
