The Bureau of Meteorology has released a heavy rainfall warning for the North and Northwest of the state for Wednesday night.
A low pressure trough is predicted to move from western Victoria to Tasmania, bringing with it rain and thunderstorms.
BOM warns that flash flooding may occur from the rainfall.
It is predicted that in 24 hours between 40-50mm of rain will fall in the state’s north, with isolated falls of 80mm possible around the Central North and Western Tiers Thursday morning.
The State Emergency Service has advised that people exercise necessary precautions such as closely supervising children, pets and livestock as well as clearing drains and gutters.
