Spanning over 100 years of style and technical achievement this impressive collection of traditional and contemporary automobiles is a must see for all those who appreciate history, design, engineering and style.

The museum comes alive with four sensational theme displays each year as well as constantly changing exhibits in the main hall and a mezzanine floor packed with motorcycles.

Their newest display is a celebration of Australian built cars and features a diverse variety of local marques, some long forgotten, others still flourishing, supplying an elite clientele.

The centrepiece is a stunning Devaux Coupe. One of eight cars hand built in Melbourne, the Devaux is a unique and extravagant homage to the work of the Parisian Carrosserie of the pre-war era.

Elfin Sports Cars Pty. Ltd. is Australia’s longest running specialist sports car manufacturer, established by Garrie Cooper in 1957. 

Elfin sports racing cars have enjoyed extensive success in national and international events in the hands of Frank Matich, Bob Jane, John McCormack, James Hunt and Didier Pironi to name just a few.

Two Elfin sports racing cars are featured in the exhibition.

Displayed alongside these exclusive machines are some of the more iconic domestic machines from Holden and Ford, testimony, if any were needed, that although local production may have ended, their legacy won’t be fading anytime soon.

While the new display plays homage to the Aussie made greats, there’s something for everyone to drool over at the museum no matter what type of vehicle catches your eye, from old British motorcycles to a history-making Nascar.

The museum is located at the corner of  Willis & Cimitiere Streets, Launceston, directly opposite City Park and also features a large merchandise shop where great auto-related gifts, books, cards and clothing can be purchased.
