As with previous years, police have been working with organisers and will provide a high profile presence at event.

Acting Inspector Dean McMahon said police will be patrolling the event for everyone’s safety. 

“To ensure a safe festival for all patrons, there will be a high police presence including uniformed and plain clothes police, Licencing officers, and Drug Investigation Services officers with the Drug Detection Dogs,” he said. 

“Look after your friends, don’t drink and drive, don’t take drugs, be respectful to others and report any illegal or anti-social behaviour to police or event staff.”

Acting Inspector McMahon said he expected a majority of the people attending the festival to behave responsibly. 

“We ask everyone to be respectful and considerate to others, especially in the mosh pit,” he said. 

Police will conduct random breath testing throughout the festival. 

“Our aim is to get everyone home safely and that includes testing drivers and removing those affected by alcohol and drugs from the  roads,” he said.
