Average weekly hours for all workers decreased by half an hour from a monthly average of 30.6 in the year to December 2017 to 30.1 in the year to December 2018.
Full-time workers’ average hours fell from 38.9 to 38.2, the Australian Bureau of Statistics found.
Part-time workers’ weekly average edged up from 16.5 to 16.6.
Nationally, full-timers averaged 38.5 hours and part-timers 16.9.
Meanwhile, the number of Tasmanians unemployed for a year or more was estimated to average 4400 per month in the year to December.
That was down by 400 compared to the previous year, the ABS estimated.
The number unemployed for two years or more increased from an annual average of 2500 to 2700.
