Passion is needed by everyone in the community – regardless if you call the Northern Suburbs home or not.
Thirty-two per cent of people living in the boundary of the City of Launceston council lives in this area.
There are much-needed plans to improve services, opportunities and standard of living in these areas.
This includes the use of public spaces or transforming empty spaces into usable areas, access to health services, employment opportunities, the cost of living and education.
A discussion paper has been released seeking community feedback on six key areas. Through community consultation some key questions and statements have been offered and now is the chance to have your say.
There’s the issue of public transport and access to mental health services. Concerns around housing include the management of vacant houses, the ability to meet the needs of the elderly or those who have a disability and feeling safe in your own home and neighbourhood.
Under the banner of education was concerns about getting to school, alternative education models and support for parents to remain engaged in their child’s learning.
A further key issue within transport was the issue of hooning and feeling safe whether you are inside or outside the vehicle.

Many of the suburbs attract negative stereotypes despite the hard work of many in the communities to improve the image and outcomes of the area.
It is in the best interest for all of Launceston to be involved in this project to improve services and create opportunities for the third of the city’s population.
