Electricity Tariffs
I NOTE RACT Insurance chief executive officer Trent Sayers’ concern that the 5000-plus short-stay (Airbnb and Stayz) properties listed in Tasmania may not have appropriate insurance cover.

What is Aurora Energy and TasNetworks doing to ensure that these businesses are on the correct tariff and not paying domestic rates at a significant advantage to substantive accommodation concerns?
I for one have no wish to subsidise their profits.

Friends of 2/40th AIF
AS we move into the 74th year of commemoration of these wonderful men, it’s time to remember the women and families who stood by the returned servicemen 1941- 45.
Isobel Elmore was a staunch supporter of our small but achieving band of locals who have now got a memorial garden in Kings Park.
Not unlike Isobel’s memory, it's in full bloom.
At peace with husband Wally who was one of the escaped guerrilla fighters in West Timor.
We offer sincere condolences to family and relatives from all those friends of 2/40th.
Behind every good man, there's a good woman.
Vale Isobel.

Pill Testing
SCENARIO, I am given or purchase a pack of tablets, and so I take one to be tested and it’s given the OK to use.
The next music venue I visit I distribute and or sell some to my friends and someone dies.
It’s patently obvious that the testing of one pill (assuming all the paraphernalia needed to achieve same at a music venue is available) that does not guarantee that all the pills are safe and whoever the lame brains are, whom advocate same are sadly in need of a lobotomy.
This particular argument is not worthy of slightest contemplation, at any level whatsoever.
Don Davey, Launceston.
Happy Australia Day
AS a proud Ahmadi Muslim Australian, who has called this nation home for the last 20 years (and many more to come), I want to thank Australia for providing my family a second chance at life. My country of birth (Pakistan) to this day will not uphold fundamental rights such as religious freedom and free speech, and I can still be sent to jail for merely calling myself a Muslim.
Australia has given my family and community a place to worship without fear, a place to live without looking over our shoulders, a place to call our forever home.
Our only home, for this I am forever thankful. Australia – you beauty.

Driving In Tasmania
DRIVING in Tasmania is rather hazardous at present with indicator use at a bare minimum, overtaking lanes are carriageways where sudden decisions to overtake whilst being overtaken is endemic, and not to forget or gloss over the driver makeup studio on wheels – we certainly live in interesting times.

Some worthy points
CLIVE Palmer, for the first time in his life, is actually speaking sense.
I know a lot of people passionately disagree with me but he is no more ridiculous than Barnaby Joyce, Scott Morrison, Bill Shorten, Browyn Bishop, etc.
Whilst he may have been responsible for an all mighty collapse of nickel mines and TV ads are a little bit annoying, if you stop and listen to him he's not speaking that much rubbish.
Given that the Liberals have shown they change leaders like some of us wash our cars, it proves that independents are important and that big parties don't mean good leadership.
I'm not voting for him just yet, but that doesn't mean I'm not listening.
Rather than mute the TV, use his ads as a point of conversation.
Collin G. Wood, Newstead.
Mute button
WITH the news that the election will be held in May, thank goodness I have a mute button for the advert after advert about voting for Clive Palmer. If by chance he gets in, I have an off button on my television.
Why doesn’t he use the money for the adverts to get people off the streets?
L. Morton, Beaumaris.
Living national treasure?
IF I see Clive Palmer and his adverts much more our household won't have a telly.
Also, could someone tell me just who voted him as a living national treasure because I certainly didn't and I don't know anyone who did?
We must be very hard up if he's the best we can come up with.
Glennis Sleurink, Launceston.
Show us the money
Why is Clive Palmer able to get airtime when he owes the government so much money?
Is everyone scared of him?
Bin the ads for his party and make him pay back what he owes.
