The University of Tasmania course runs in Launceston over three study periods, which means students can complete the course within two years.
Part-time students have up to seven years to finish.
The course was developed by the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics and Launceston Chamber of Commerce and will be delivered at Enterprize.
Course coordinator Associate Professor Stuart Crispin said the degree design meant students could join the workforce quicker.
“This is an exciting opportunity that leverages the expertise of our local business sector and is a testament to the reputation of Launceston as an entrepreneurial capital,” Associate Professor Crispin said.
Chamber executive officer Neil Grose said the accelerated degree was a positive development.
“This degree will allow students to complete a normal three-year degree in two years and will involve a significant amount of workplace mentoring with Launceston businesses, enabling students who graduate to be work and career ready,” Mr Grose said.
Enterprize general manager Casey Farrell said the startup hub was the ideal place to host the course.
“This new program, with a strong cohort of entrepreneurial lecturers and close ties with Launceston’s commercial sector will help to drive [our] agenda to [increase the field of early stage businesses in Tasmania],” Mr Farrell said.
